2008 Band Comp Results

More than 50 bands entered the Sydney Uni Band Comp in 2008. It took five months, eight heats, four quarter finals and two semi-finals before the competition came down to one very closely contested final which took place on Thursday 4 September in front of 600 screaming punters at Manning Bar.
The final 6 bands were The Bakery, The Small Hours, We Say Bamboulee, Wifey, Made In Japan and Super Florence Jam.
It was a fantastic night and a showcase of the quality and variety of our bands here at Sydney Uni. The judging panel of 8 included old boy Patrick Matthews from Youth Group (and previous winner of the comp with The Vines), and old girl Sarah Kelly from The Redsunband.
Eventually it was the infectious and confident folk-swamp stylings of Wifey that emerged victorious.
The loveable synth-pop of We Say Bamboulee and the indie-poptastic Small Hours placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Winner: Wifey
2nd: We Say Bamboulee
3rd: Small Hours
