Townsville band The Middle East is heading out for a brief series of headline shows along the east coast before sequestering themselves in their Townsville studio to work on their debut full-length album.

The band, who re-released their mini album The Recordings of the Middle East through Spunk Records in May, have come a long way since opening for Bill Callahan in Melbourne in January this year.

In nine months, The Middle East have toured with label mates Leader Cheetah promoting the inaugural Spunk Singles Club, undertaken their own sell-out headline tour, performed at the Splendour in the Grass Festival, and have played alongside the likes of Augie March, Okkervil River and The Doves.

Combining gentle and perfect harmonies with carefully arranged and beautifully performed music, The Middle Easts live performances take audiences on a roller coaster ride of emotions.

Joining The Middle East will be Jonathan Boulet plus fellow Townsville residents Dragging Pianos (featuring some very special guests).
