Manning Bar is a live entertainment venue owned and operated by the University of Sydney Union (USU), the oldest and largest Australian student union. Opened in 1974, Manning Bar has attracted the best local and international acts throughout its history.
International stars such as The Black Keys (2008), Foo Fighters (2011) and Machine Gun Kelly (2013) have graced the stage of Manning, as well as Australian legends such as Paul Kelly (1979), INXS (1980), Gotye (2007), Tame Impala (2009) and Violent Soho (2014). Manning Bar also proudly hosts some of Sydney’s biggest parties, such as the Heaps Gay Mardi Gras After Party, Revolve Festival, Screamfest and more.
The infamous University of Sydney Battle of the Bands competition is also hosted at Manning Bar, which has helped launch the careers of some of Australia’s most loved bands including The Jezabels (Finalist 2007) and Cloud Control (Winners 2006).

The licensed venue area (Level 2) also has a balcony and two smaller rooms that can be used in a variety of venue set ups.

Manning Bar is located on Level 2 of Manning House, Manning Rd within the grounds of the University of Sydney and is easily accessible by public transport, taxi and car. It is close to Newtown, Glebe and Chippendale.
